Community Guidelines
Last updated: [Last updated date]
SailMate works because sailors trust each other. These guidelines help keep the community welcoming, honest, and safe.
Be respectful
Treat every sailor with respect, regardless of experience, background, club, or class. No harassment, hate speech, or personal attacks.
Keep sailing safe
Never encourage unsafe behavior on the water. Respect right-of-way rules, weather warnings, and local regulations.
Be honest in Crewsearch
Describe your experience, position, and availability accurately. Fake or misleading posts waste other sailors' time and erode trust.
Protect private contact information
- Do not post phone numbers, personal email addresses, or home addresses publicly.
- Use SailMate's in-app messaging to coordinate with other sailors.
Report and block
If someone behaves suspiciously, sends inappropriate messages, or breaks these guidelines, use the in-app report and block tools. Reports are reviewed and may lead to content removal or account suspension.
Knowledge posts
Share tips, drills, and tactics that you've actually tested. Do not post misleading or dangerous advice — other sailors may rely on it.
Be helpful in the Forum
Answer questions you can answer. If you don't know, that's fine — leave space for someone who does.
Young sailors
Some users in the sailing community are minors or young sailors. Be extra mindful when interacting, never request private contact details, and report any concerning behavior immediately.
